At AGS Controls, we pride ourselves on delivering cutting-edge solutions for environmental monitoring across various industries. Recently, we supplied our air quality sensors to Flying Dutchman, a licensed cannabis company based in the Coachella Valley, California. Our advanced CO2, temperature, and humidity monitoring has been installed in their indoor cultivation facility.
About Flying Dutchman
Flying Dutchman began its journey in 2020 with a modest 10,000 sq ft greenhouse, but with rapid success and high demand, they expanded to a state-of-the-art two-story indoor grow house. With 32,000 sq ft of grow space and a production output of roughly 1,000 pounds of cannabis per month, Flying Dutchman handles all its cultivation processes in-house, including cloning, vegging, flowering, trimming, and packaging. Soon, they will also be expanding their operations into distribution and retail within California.
To ensure optimal growing conditions and meet regulatory requirements for indoor air quality, Flying Dutchman turned to AGS Controls for precise monitoring of their environment, essential for cannabis cultivation success.
The Role of CO2, Temperature, and Humidity in Cannabis Cultivation
In any indoor grow facility, maintaining the right environmental conditions is key to achieving healthy, high-yield plants. This is particularly true in cannabis cultivation, where CO2, temperature, and humidity must be carefully balanced.
- CO2 Levels: Carbon dioxide is crucial for photosynthesis, and increasing CO2 concentrations can enhance plant growth and yields. Monitoring CO2 levels ensures that the right balance is maintained to support optimal plant development without wasting resources.
- Temperature Control: Cannabis plants are sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Too high or too low, and the plants may experience stunted growth or even stress, leading to lower yields. Our sensors help maintain the ideal temperature range for each stage of the cultivation process.
- Humidity Regulation: Humidity affects the transpiration rate of plants and plays a key role in preventing mold and mildew, which can be devastating in grow houses. Proper humidity levels also aid nutrient uptake, helping plants thrive in controlled environments.
RSCO2TH1 Sensors: The Perfect Fit for Flying Dutchman
For this project, AGS Controls supplied the RSCO2TH1 CO2, temperature, and humidity sensors. These sensors offer precision and reliability, ensuring that Flying Dutchman maintains the ideal environmental parameters for their cannabis cultivation.
Our sensors provide the following benefits:
- Accurate CO2 Monitoring: With a built-in carbon dioxide sensor, Flying Dutchman can easily track and adjust CO2 levels to boost plant growth and improve yield.
- Precise Temperature and Humidity Control: The integrated temperature and humidity sensors allow for consistent monitoring of grow rooms, ensuring the plants remain in their optimal climate.
- Flexibility in Output: While our RSCO2TH1 sensors feature both Bacnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU for integration into building management systems, for this project, Flying Dutchman only required the analog outputs, allowing for a simple yet effective monitoring solution.
Supporting Cannabis Cultivation with Environmental Sensors
As cannabis cultivation becomes more competitive and technologically advanced, facilities like Flying Dutchman are turning to high-tech solutions to maintain optimal growing conditions and ensure the best possible harvests. With our CO2, temperature, and humidity sensors, AGS Controls helps growers maintain their environments efficiently, allowing them to focus on quality and yield.
Whether for cannabis cultivation or other controlled-environment agriculture, AGS Controls provides the tools necessary for success in modern agriculture.
